Hey everyone! I had thought that I’d be signing on kinda early tonight, but I’m finding it hard to get motivated to “work” when I’ve been doing so well lately. I’m pretty sure that’s gonna bite me in the ass and there will be a slow time soon where I’ll be wondering, “What the hell were you thinking?” lol

Anyway, yesterday my roomie and I went shopping for some misc. things at Walmart (yes, I shop there, don’t boo me) and then to the grocery store. While standing in the check out line at Walmart, I happened to notice a little booklet nestled in with the magazines and astrology scrolls titled “Cool Careers for Dummies”.

Now, I’m very familiar with the “for Dummies” books. I own a number of them and they’re usually pretty dependable, though it depends highly upon who pens the guide. I understand that it’s not really trying to instruct people of below average intelligence on these various topics and I’m sure that by now, most people know that as well.

However, “Careers for Dummies” just struck me as so funny! I found myself wondering what careers WOULD be good for dummies and decided to purchase the little paperback guide just to see what they could possibly be talking about.

When I got it home though, I realized that the careers described in the pages aren’t really for dummies at all! In fact, most of them required a Bachelor’s degree, if not higher. The author describes jobs such as “trial consultant”, “biostatistician”, “geologist”, “casting director”. “personal chef” and “virtual reality programmer”. I was browsing through it while on the phone with a caller (yes, he was aware that I was doing it” and I came across the following little gem describing the job of “diver”.

“You get to travel all of the world - often on a moment’s notice. And there are prized neat niches: police divers who look for guys who have been fitted with cement shoes…”

DUDE. Anyway, it tickled my funny bone, so I thought it might tickle yours too. I’m super ticklish though, so I don’t expect it to make you laugh as much as it did me. I just can’t control it sometimes.

I also saw the prettiest drink I’ve ever seen! Now the one I have a picture of is the second prettiest one, but somehow between the store and my house, the prettier of the two bottles disappeared. Deal. It’s still so beautiful!! I can’t even bring myself to drink it yet, it’s still sitting by my computer. I hope it’s tasty, the marketing sure worked on me. Check it out.

Anyway, I was just distracted for a few hours eating dinner, watching a show and deciding where we’re going hiking tomorrow. We found someone to baby sit so it’s just gonna be us girls! Woohoo! We’re only gonna go a few miles so it shouldn’t be so hard core. I hope I get some good pictures!

Hey everyone. I just want to start out by saying that I’m sorry I haven’t been keeping up on my blog lately. It’s been a combination of being very busy during the day, signing on later than usual, being on the phone the vast majority of the time I’m available for calls and talking until I get ready to just pass out. That’s been the pattern pretty much this week. So I’m sorry.

Yesterday I had a GREAT day. I actually spent a full SEVEN hours shopping! It was awesome, I had such a great time. I finally got the Camelbak backpack that I’ve been meaning to get for over a month. Thank you again Johnathan for hooking me up with it! I bought my roomie one of the fanny pack hydration systems from Camelbak and some new hiking boots so she will be more comfortable when we go hiking. Here’s a picture of the one I got (not my exact one obviously, but it was easier to take this pic off the net than to take one of mine). Isn’t it pretty?

 

 

I also got some new clothes, a couple of track suits and a new shirt and some new pants. I got some new cute little things for my hair and some wool socks for hiking. I did a ton of window shopping too! I’m already starting to think about Christmas, isn’t that crazy?

Today my roomies had to go to a funeral and they took the baby with them so I had the whole day to myself. Instead of signing on early or something, I decided to just finish the book I was reading. Now, Nora Roberts is my favorite author, but lately I’m starting to not like her books as much. It’s kinda what happened to Stephen King and Anne Rice. I LOVE their earlier stuff, but then the later stuff I just hated.

I can see how Nora has really refined her writing and she’s much more skilled at painting a picture with words and it’s a far cry from her earlier works as far as actual writing ability goes. My problem is that lately her books seem to put the romance part on the back burner. They’re all much more about mystery and intrigue…ghosts and murders and stuff and it seems as if the main couple of the story just kinda fall into bed with each other. Her earlier books were all about the relationships. Now they just seem like a side note.

So I guess I’ll be on the hunt for a new romance author. I’ll probably never stop reading Nora Roberts books (like I did with Stephen King and Anne rice), but she’s really slipping in the ranks. I’m definitely a huge fan of the Dark-Hunter series I just finished up and can’t wait for more books to come out from that author. Maybe I’ll check out more of the other stuff she’s done.

Had a GREAT day on the phones today. I couldn’t have asked for more. The day itself was actually pretty good, overall. I woke up late and my roomie had actually let me sleep in. They did corn dogs (veggie ones for me), french fries, jalepeno poppers, taquitos, mozarella sticks! lol It was a fried food bonanza in our backyard. I’m sure my stomach will take revenge on me sometime tonight.

Then after that, she calls me downstairs saying “ice cream is ready!” and there’s a huge bowl of chocolate and vanilla ice cream covered in hot fudge, caramel, butterscotch, whipped cream and nuts! OMG! What the hell?! lol

I got through about half of it and finally pushed it away, completely stuffed. I actually don’t feel bad right now, so I guess I didn’t totally overdo it.

OMG though, the GROSSEST thing happened today and I just have to share. My roomie came home and she’d picked one of the roses we have outside because I guess they were just smelling particularly fragrant and she wanted me to take a whiff. I actually looked at it before I held it to my nose to make sure there were no bugs. Then I smelled it. It smelled GREAT, but when I looked at it again, I saw a TON of little bugs swarming out of it. We obviously don’t spray our roses enough.

Then I felt something tickling my nose…I sneezed, then sneezed again. My roomie handed me a tissue and I blew my nose and one of those little bugs was on the tissue! It had crawled up my nose! OMG! That’s so fucking sick!!!! Sick, but kinda funny at the same time. And of course my roomie thought it was the funniest thing she’d ever seen. Go figure.

I have been so insanely busy tonight, I can barely even think straight! It’s so frustrating though, I keep getting calls on every listing BUT my main one! The points are just CREEPING up on that one. I only need 4 more points though….ooh, the excitement is almost unbearable.

My roomie took the baby in to get pictures today and he was a little baby butthead. Normally he’s a very happy and smiley baby, but he just wasn’t havin’ it today for the pictures. I felt bad for my roomie! The second she came in to the house and put the car seat on the floor, the little booger just grinned at me like he knew what was going on. I think he’s gonna take after his cousin (that’d be me)!

I had planned to try and make another trip out to find that backpack today. Ooh, I didn’t even post about that, did I? Well, the day I discovered the backpack I want, I was in another city. It wasn’t very far away, maybe 20 mins. from my house. There’s another sports store that’s closer to my house though, so yesterday when I decided to go actually buy the backback (thanks again to Johnathan for sending me the money), I went to the store that’s closer.

They didn’t have it! ACK! So then I went to another sporting goods store and they not only didn’t have the model I wanted, they didn’t have ANY of the Camelbak backpacks. How lame!

Tomorrow I plan to trek back to the original store to buy the backpack. We’re going hiking again on Saturday (at least that’s the plan for now), so I want to have it for then. I got new boots too, so my poor little ankles won’t hurt and I’ll have more traction when climbing up those steep hills!

I spent most of today reading. One of my callers recommended “The Black Jewels: Trilogy: Daughter of the Blood / Heir to the Shadows / Queen of the Darkness” and oddly enough, I wasn’t really digging it until the first book was almost over. Then I was hooked. When I started reading this morning, I was about 25% of the way through the first book and now I’m about 25% through the second book.

They’re very original, that I can say for sure! I doubt they’d be very appealing to my male callers, but I’m enjoying them.

I still have one book left of the “Dark-Hunter” series and then it’s on to the new Laurell Hamilton (which I’m going to read despite bad reviews) and the new Nora Roberts. Yay for summer reading!

My roomie is going to do some construction tomorrow in our upstairs. The way our house is, my bedroom is at the end of a tiny hallway to the right of the top of the stairs. My roomies sleep in a bedroom that’s to the left of the stairs.

They can still hear me sometimes though even with both of our doors closed and their A/C going. Yes, I know some of you have heard me get that loud, you bad boys!

So tomorrow he’s going to build a temporary wall in front of my bedroom doors that will be constructed out of sound proofing boards and sound proofing insulation. We’ll put the sound boards on the back of the door too and see how that works to insulate my room.

Then if that doesn’t completely block out the noise, we’ll put some of the sound proofing boards on the other parts of the wall that are shared by the rest of the house. Luckily, three of my four walls go to the outside of the house, so it shouldn’t be that huge of a project even if we do end up needing to do the other wall.

So that’s great news!! NO MORE CALLS IN MY CLOSET! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY! HAPPY DANCE FOR EVERYONE! I’ll be more comfortable and more open and definitely more relaxed just laying in my own bed while I talk. I’m really excited.

Anyway, it’s after 2 am here and I’m getting sleepy. I had hoped to stay up until my listing crossed 6,000 pts. but I’m ok with that not happening tonight.
