I realized what a bummer my blog has become. Yes, it’s kinda sucking for calls lately, but that’s not YOUR fault. Well, maybe it IS your fault…maybe you’re one of the dudes who used to call me and now still reads my blog faithfully, but for whatever reason you haven’t called in 1,000 years.

Just kidding.

It’s not your fault. It’s summer! I get it. Everyone is out having fun, even me. So I’m gonna stop bitching about it being slow since I just had three awesome months in a row. I’m gonna start advertising in places other than Niteflirt and I’ll just suck it up and see what happens.

In the meantime, I’ll fill you in on what’s been going on in my life. It always amazes me how the littlest things can strike a cord with someone and generate interest. I can’t even count the number of calls I’ve gotten because I mentioned that Depeche Mode is my favorite band or that I like to cook.

By the way, if anyone has a good recipe for buttermilk pancakes, can you let me in on it? I tried Alton Brown’s recipe and though they tasted good, they never got quite brown and were too thin and flat for me. I know I could have added flour and thickened the batter up, but I figured I’d just try a difference recipe if anyone has a good one they KNOW works. I’m in the midst of trying to stop using boxed mixes for muffins, pancakes, biscuits, etc. because I’m trying to go completely organic.

I just spent two days pretty much reading non stop. I got this book “The Host” at Costco because I’d seen it around and I’d read something by this author before and enjoyed it. It is 619 pages and I read it in two days. I absolutely loved it.

Here is the synopsis:

“Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.

When Melanie, one of the few remaining “wild” humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.”

It sounds like a romance, but it definitely reads more like a thriller. I am not usually very fond of science fiction novels, but I’d bet that it’s likely you’d enjoy it even if you don’t like romances or “alien” books. This was the first time in years that I’ve literally not been able to put a book down. My cousin was getting pissed cause I took it with us when we went shopping and I read in the car on the way to the mall. I fell asleep with the lights on and it in my hands the first night.

I can’t WAIT for the movie to come out. I didn’t see anything about one anywhere, but I’m sure it will eventually happen. Click the graphic below to go to the book’s site. I personally hope that there are more books (of course), but I would prefer for them NOT to be from Wanderer’s point of view. I’d love it if she jumped to the guy who shows up in the last scene, Burns. That would be awesome.

While I was reading that, I got an email from Amazon telling me that a book I’ve been waiting for for YEARS had finally come out. Book 12 of the Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. YAY! So I went and bought it before I even finished “The Host” and knocked it out in 2 days flat too. It was 728 pages. Phew.

These are action/romance books too, but might be a little too much on the side of romance for most guys. I’d say out of all of the books in this series so far though, Acheron was the most “Anne Rice”-like of them all. It struck me as a little more substantial…less like standard brain candy and more in depth like an Anne Rice or Stephen King novel might be. Kudos to Sherrilyn Kenyon. It’s fun to see an author advance and mature through the years and become better at their craft. I know she started this book a long time ago, but I’m glad she took so long to finish it.

So anyway, I don’t really have any plans for today except for maybe to go to the library and find something else to read. Hope you all are having a great week and we get to talk soon. Oh crap! I totally forgot to post about “Pineapple Express”! I did go see it. I laughed my ASS off, but I was high as a kite, so I doubt it would have been as funny if I weren’t stoned. It was WAY gorier than I thought it was going to be. EW. So if you’re a stoner, go check it out! If you don’t smoke weed, skip it! lol

I did what I said…went to sleep all early, got up all early and signed in. My phone has been a desert. Yep. No calls this morning either.

I didn’t really feel like watching tv or reading (even though I just started a really good new book called “The Host”), so I wrote a story. Yep, it’s been awhile since I’ve done that.

I sent out free minutes this morning and I hate to email everyone twice, so I’m posting here about it first. Only $5 and it really turned me on to write it, so I hope it’ll turn you on to read it. Check it out!

Easter was so cute! The baby (though he’s almost 2, so I guess it’s time for us to stop calling him a baby) was a super awesome little egg hunter! We dyed the eggs on Friday and he had a blast with that too. Something very strange happened though.

We dyed 18 eggs. It was a brand new pack of eggs that we had purchased specifically for that purpose. We boiled, cooled, dried and then dyed them and put them back in the refrigerator.

Sunday morning after he hunted them all up, we started cracking them to make various dishes…egg salad, deviled eggs, etc. and two of them were RAW. Yes, they were dyed and raw. Now how in the HELL did that happen? I briefly suspected my male roomie of playing a trick on me and my cousin, but he was so incredulous, I believed his innocence.

Seriously though, it’s an unsolved mystery.

Now this might turn some of you off, but I read Eckhard Tolle’s book, “A New Earth” and have been watching the web seminar classes on Oprah.com for a few weeks now. I’ve made such incredible progress in my personal life that I decided to join a study group that is also following the Oprah classes. I’ll be there tonight, so no calls, sorry!

I might sign on when I get home, but it probably won’t be until around 9 pm.

I woke up this morning and my roomie said she wanted to go look at some wedding gowns. I just got home and it’s 4 pm! lol It took us a couple of hours, but she found a gown she absolutely loves (too bad she doesn’t have any $$ for it) and I’m 95% sure that I found the dress I’m going to wear as the maid of honor too. Cool!

I got the stuff I need to shoot my final photography assignment too. I have to baby sit tomorrow until noon, so I will shoot the pictures then and head to school when I drop the baby off at his grandma’s house. I’m going to deliberately shoot the stuff on a drab background so it won’t be too dang hard to print. Black and white is always tough!

I’ll be taking calls all night tonight though, so give me a call if you want to. That story is selling pretty well and it seems like most of you who are getting it like it! Let’s keep it up and maybe I’ll make some money to take another class next term…haven’t decided yet whether I want to.

I am way behind on American Idol so I’ll try to catch up tonight since I’m staying in. I’ve got a bunch of books I want to read too, so I’m off to immerse myself in some pop culture. Talk to you soon!

Ok, so I’m sure that you’ve all noticed that I took a TON of time off in December. I thought I deserved it, especially since I was up here visiting my family and wanted to spend time with them. Unfortunately, taking time off and Christmas shopping are two contrary interests. So what’s the final result, you ask? I’m BROKE! haha

I had an AMAZING Christmas with my family and friends. I hope you all did too! We woke up early and opened presents before having a huge breakfast. I totally scored! I got gift certificates to get my nails and hair done, a painted glass bowl and butter dish (I collect painted glass), an awesome necklace/earring set, some sandals, Celine Dion perfume, a pin shaped like an angel, and a new board game called Apples to Apples or something like that.

My aunt and uncle came over later and brought all my little cousins. It was so much fun to see and play with them! I got them each totally cool stuff and taped them tripping out over it all. It was adorable! Then we had a big dinner with everyone (we used all the dishes and linens that we’d purchased for the dinner party that was cancelled because of the power outage) and then everyone went to sleep early. Well, I didn’t…I actually came up and tried to work a bit, but I kept getting super short calls from new guys, so I signed off and called Erin.

We talked for 2 or 3 hours! She’s so excited to spend a long weekend with me and I can’t wait for her to get here. She’ll arrive on Friday probably around 8:30 or 9 and we’ll be taking calls all night that night. We’ll probably sleep in late on Sat. morning, but we might take calls during the day too, if it seems like there’s anyone around who wants us. My sister wants us to all go out dancing on Sat. night but I’m not sure whether we will. We’re trying to save up money for a quick trip to Vegas in April and we could miss a lot of calls if we don’t work on Sat. OR Sun. night. We definitely won’t be doing calls on Sunday. My sister and I are throwing a party for New Years.

I got a box of goodies from Ubu today! He got me a flexible dock for my IPOD shuffle, a book about phone sex (YAY!), some CDs and another book about vampires. He knows me so well! You rock!

Anyway, since I’m broke, I’ll be working a lot between now and Friday. I went shopping today with my sister, but other than that, I might actually not even leave the house again until sometime on Sat. Now don’t get me wrong, I got some money from callers on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but the sheer amount of time I took off has just made December really bad for income. I’m about 25% down for the month at this point…may not seem like a lot, but it really is. So if you can help out by sending me some money or having a good, long call with me, I’d really appreciate it! *kiss*

I’m online right now and should be for the rest of the night. Can’t wait to connect with some of you and see what you got for Christmas!!
