I’m in love.
I hadn’t been watching the show “Rockstar Supernova” until a couple of weeks ago. Don’t ask me why. I love rock music and I love reality shows that involve music in any way, so you’d think I’d be all over it!
My roomie got me started watching it and I am totally, completely and 100% in love with one of the singers on the show. His name is Ryan Star.
Now before of you jump all over me about it, I’m aware of the fact that he BUTCHERED a Depeche Mode song on last week’s show. It wasn’t the arrangement, which he seemed to take credit for, but the fact that he FORGOT THE WORDS that bothered me. Um, hello? How the fuck can you forget the words to “Enjoy the Silence”? Even people who don’t know the song well know the words to it! It’s just one of “those” songs that everyone knows and doesn’t quite know how or why!
But then on the last show, he sang a song by Phil Collins called “In The Air Tonight”, which is one of my favorite songs ever to begin with…and his rendition was absolutely amazing. I watched it three times. I wanted to have his babies right then and there…or at least die trying.
Just thought I’d let you know.

Funny how the Miami Vice movie has re-popularized that song. Having loved the show when it was on and the use of music to heighten the drama and emotion, I was a little disappointed they didn’t feature the original in the movie and only played the cover version during the credits.
And you are right, I’ve never been a Depeche Mode fan, but hearing my sister play it enough times, I think I could get most of the words right.
