If you haven’t already noticed, I absolutely love kid movies. Disney movies are my favorite. I don’t usually admit this to people, but I have almost every Disney animated movie that’s ever been released on DVD. “The Little Mermaid” is my favorite, followed closely by “Beauty and the Beast”. I really like “The Incredibles”, “Toy Story” and “Aladdin” too.
Anyway, Ice Age: The Meltdown opened today and I had to go. I absolutely LOVED the first one. I went with a couple of close friends who have little kids (just so I wouldn’t feel weird going without any kids lol) and was optimistic, but not overly so.
I’m glad I didn’t get my hopes up. It was funny at points, but nothing like the original. The funniest parts were when the crazy squirrel was trying to get the nut. There was one other really funny section where Sid was being worshipped by some mini sloths…but other than that, it was a let down. There were even a couple of sections where my friends and I just rolled our eyes at each other because something that was supposed to be funny just fell flat.
Oh well! I guess the general rule still applies…sequels usually suck. And animated films are no exception to that rule. There ARE a few exceptions, of course. Die Hard, Indiana Jones, Aliens, The Terminator….those all had good sequels. I guess Men in Black II was ok as well. Can anyone think of any more?
American Idol is still going well. They’re slowly but surely getting rid of the losers! I can’t BELIEVE that Katharine was in the bottom 3 this last week though. She’s by far the best girl on that darn show! What is everyone thinking? I guess I need to start voting again!
I went on a jog again today with my heart rate monitor watch. I’m starting to get the hang of it. Last night at kick boxing, everyone was asking me about it. Our teacher was out again and we had that sub that I don’t like. She is always weird, but last night she had us hitting two sticks together! She said it’s all the “rage” in Europe to do drumming onto the exercise balls? Um, well that may be, but we are NOT in Europe! I felt like a complete moron marching around and hitting two sticks together.
Oh well, it did give me a good work out! I stayed in about the 70-80% of max range, which is what I need a few times a week. Today I just stayed in the “light” range and burned some fat. Tomorrow is my day off! I’ve worked out the last 5 days in a row, so I’m gonna take a break.
I need to start working some weight lifting back into my schedule…the only problem is that I HATE lifting weights! lol I don’t care what kind of regimen I’m doing, how many reps, what amount of weight, how many muscles I work in one day, I just hate it.
My male roomie said he’d start lifting with me though if I wanted him to. We have a couple of sets of barbells, so I might take him up on the offer. I just need to think “Well, if I have more muscle, it means I’m burning more calories every day….so I can eat more!!!” lol Maybe that will motivate me.
Anyway, I’ll be on pretty much all weekend during the evening. I’ve been a workaholic lately. I don’t think I’ve taken a full day off in a MONTH, but I’ve been putting in a lot less hours overall, so it’s balancing out.
I’m definitely going to be seeing Erin again on the 14th-16th of April and we’ll be doing 2 girl calls on the 15th probably. We’re gonna go see Cirque du Soleil’s new show “Varekai”. I’m really excited!
Wow, did I just ramble on forever or what? I think I need to start posting more often again or I’ll just have to run on and on and on with every single post!
